Dealing with Cheating

Although everybody knows that cheating is wrong, many students still do it. Before we can control the rampant cheating in school, we must know the reasons why students cheat. When I was a student in university, I found that most of my classmates tense to cheat in the final exam. These were the students who didn’t study hard and were always absent from class, but they wanted to pass the exam for their degree. That is the main reason why they cheat. Another reason is that most schools give multiple-choice tests that make cheating very easy.


Tests are important for schools because they want to know whether their students can finish their programs, but honesty and truth are more important for students. We can’t tolerate people who don’t honour each other in our world. If otherwise, there is no meaning or hopeness for this world. In my opinion, dealing with cheating must begin in school.


First, school must reform their test system. They can build all kinds of test forms, such written test which can make cheating more difficult. The student’s score is not only decided by a final or middle test, but also by assignments, participatily in daily class and discussions or presentations in class.


Finally, it is necessary to teach students what is a really useful person. A good reputation is very important for them. Cheating students will set a permant record!
